Region Xl or Davao Region is located in the Southern Portion of Mindanao Island facing directly the Pacific Ocean, bounded on the north by the provinces of Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur and Bukidnon; on the east by the Philippine Sea; and in the west by the Central Mindanao Province. Davao City , as its Capital City, is considered one of the largest in the world covering an area of 244,000 hectares.
The Region is conveniently accessible by air, land and water transport. It is 1 hour and thirty five minutes ride by Plane from Manila and fifty five minutes away from Cebu. For a more scenic route, one has to take two days overland trip along the Pan Philippine Highway from Manila to Davao via Philtranco Bus Lines' Luzon-Visayas-Mindanao Run. Many shipping lines also service sea routes to Davao from Manila and other neighboring island provinces. Main access to the municipalities within the region is through the cemented Maharlika Highway.
