LMS Awards Top Performers on Patent Issuances
In recognition of their valuable efforts in the completion of Land Patent Issuances, the Lands Management Services (LMS) awarded the top performers of Region XI at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office last January 23, 2008.
As a form of motivation to do their best in performing their duties and responsibilities, the Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs and CENROs) were awarded with incentives through the leadership of DENR-XI Regional Executive Director (RED) Ricardo L. Calderon and LMS Regional Technical Director (RTD) Atty. Felix Alicer. The awarding ceremony was also witnessed by USEC for Staff Bureaus Manuel D. Gerochi, Director Edna Tabadora-Anda and Director Angelito V. Fontanilla of Internal Audit Services (IAS).
CENROs Monkayo, Nabunturan and Baganga were the top 3 performers of Region XI and each were awarded with a Honda motorcycle unit. PENROs Comval and Oriental on the other hand, who were able to accomplish their targets in terms of number and area, were each given one unit of Laptop.
CENROs who also accomplished their target in patent issuances in terms of number and area were awarded with a complete set of computer, printer and table. These are CENROs Digos, Don Marcelino, Manay, Maco, Mati and Panabo. Offices that were able to accomplish their target either in number or area were each given one unit of printer. In this category, the awardees were CENROs West, East, Malalag and Lupon and PENRO Digos.
As much as they would like to accomplish their Land Patent targets, both PENRO and CENRO Tagum inevitably had a hard time coping up in doing so due to the fire that burned their office last July 2007 which resulted to losing of all Land records. Each was still awarded with a computer table. Special awards were also given to Offices who increased their target to be able to help Tagum Offices and to also meet the Regional target. These CENR Offices were CENRO Panabo, Mati and Digos.
In the end, CENRO Don Marcelino came out as the office with the highest target in Land Patent Issuances and was awarded with 1 unit of Desk Top Computer. (jei v. agas)

DENR-XI Celebrates Christmas
‘Tis the season to be jolly and the time of the year where everybody gather around to celebrate the Christmas season with fun, laughter and games. For the DENR-XI family though, Christmas party was also celebrated with dancing, singing and prizes last December 21, 2007 at the Lanang Golf & Country Club.
Since it has been DENR-XI’s tradition to have a dance competition every Christmas party, it is inevitable for all the performances to keep getting better each year. This year’s competition was a blast for all six entries gave their all to be able to carry out a stunning performance. The judges may have difficulty in choosing the grand champion, but it was the Forest Management Services (FMS) who came out as the winner. Second to FMS was the Lands Management Services (LMS) while in the third place was the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). Other performers were the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Ecosystems, Research and Development Services (ERDS) and Protected Areas Wildlife and Coastal Zone Management Services (PAWCZMS).

One of the highlights of the festivity was the Hawaiian dance number from the Division Chiefs. Daintily dressed in their Hawaiian garb geared with various Hawaiian paraphernalia, DENR-XI Division Chiefs perform a Tahiti dance number called “The Crowning of the Princess” which solicited cheers and yells from the audience. The other much-awaited performance of the night was a dance number from DENR-XI top officials. Doing a remake of the legendary 70’s singing group The Village People, Regional Executive Director (RED) Ricardo L. Calderon together with his Regional Technical Directors (RTDs) and Bureau Regional Directors (RDs) presented a very entertaining and uproarious “Macho Men” presentation. The performance was not that perfect when it came to synchronization but it was unqualified and consistent when it came to generating applause and joyfulness from the spectators.
The party was also raining with prizes from the raffle draw and parlor games that nobody went home empty-handed. Sultry female singers from Marco Polo Hotel also graced the show with some upbeat and salsa music which was truly enjoyed by everyone. In totality, the DENR-XI Christmas Party 2007 was again a night of fun and surprises. It was also a night of competition but let no competition ruin the Christmas spirit that lies inside of us. Christmas is not only the season of gifts and fun but also a season of being in harmony with our family, friends and neighbors. ‘Till next Christmas Party!
