DENR-XI Celebrates Christmas
‘Tis the season to be jolly and the time of the year where everybody gather around to celebrate the Christmas season with fun, laughter and games. For the DENR-XI family though, Christmas party was also celebrated with dancing, singing and prizes last December 21, 2007 at the Lanang Golf & Country Club.
Since it has been DENR-XI’s tradition to have a dance competition every Christmas party, it is inevitable for all the performances to keep getting better each year. This year’s competition was a blast for all six entries gave their all to be able to carry out a stunning performance. The judges may have difficulty in choosing the grand champion, but it was the Forest Management Services (FMS) who came out as the winner. Second to FMS was the Lands Management Services (LMS) while in the third place was the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). Other performers were the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Ecosystems, Research and Development Services (ERDS) and Protected Areas Wildlife and Coastal Zone Management Services (PAWCZMS).

One of the highlights of the festivity was the Hawaiian dance number from the Division Chiefs. Daintily dressed in their Hawaiian garb geared with various Hawaiian paraphernalia, DENR-XI Division Chiefs perform a Tahiti dance number called “The Crowning of the Princess” which solicited cheers and yells from the audience. The other much-awaited performance of the night was a dance number from DENR-XI top officials. Doing a remake of the legendary 70’s singing group The Village People, Regional Executive Director (RED) Ricardo L. Calderon together with his Regional Technical Directors (RTDs) and Bureau Regional Directors (RDs) presented a very entertaining and uproarious “Macho Men” presentation. The performance was not that perfect when it came to synchronization but it was unqualified and consistent when it came to generating applause and joyfulness from the spectators.
The party was also raining with prizes from the raffle draw and parlor games that nobody went home empty-handed. Sultry female singers from Marco Polo Hotel also graced the show with some upbeat and salsa music which was truly enjoyed by everyone. In totality, the DENR-XI Christmas Party 2007 was again a night of fun and surprises. It was also a night of competition but let no competition ruin the Christmas spirit that lies inside of us. Christmas is not only the season of gifts and fun but also a season of being in harmony with our family, friends and neighbors. ‘Till next Christmas Party!
